I know in Australia 1 in 100 children are born with heart disease. That is about 6 each day. This of course doesn't take into account aquired heart disease so it will sure be a lot of people. My son is 2 1/2 and was born with pulmonary atrestia. Hope that helps a little.

Prevents 1.4 million people from living a full life because of disability caused by the disease. Was suffered by one in six Australians in 2004, and affected two out of three families. Claimed the lives of almost 48,000 Australians (35 per cent of all deaths) in 2004 - deaths that are largely preventable.
