Because Eddie had a wild life, his use to drink and do drugs and that all caught up to him, sadly to say. R.I.P. Eddie

He was taking drugs right up until the day he died. thats what pro wrestling does to many wrestlers

After a car accident he had an addiction to painkillers and took them with alcohol. I guess all that from the past caught up with him.

@Hazza. Thats a lie. He did take a lot of drugs, but he was clean for the last few years of his career. But yes. It was probably due to the drugs and alcohol. He had a serious problem. He was in a serious car accident, he would drink all the time, and took a lot of pain killers. Of course this was around 2000? He was released by WWF, and his wife, Vickie left him, so he resorted to getting off the drugs and alcohol and was clean since. Then WWF rehired him after he went to rehab and its probably why he got the push and eventually winning the tag, US, and World title. Then Vickie and Eddie got remarried because he dealt with his problem. So he was clean during his last few years. But, there was so much of the drugs and alcohol in his system, its still got the best of him. That just proves that if you start using it and stop, it will still remains in your body. One of the reasons why his death was so emotional because everyone knew he had fought his demons, but still died. And if you combine alcohol and pills, your going to get a heart problem, which is why they always recommend to not consume both at the same time. So I believe, that he did take painkillers and drank at the same time, which was the cause of his heart disease.

He was a drug addict. He cheated on Vickie, got a another woman pregnant while they were married. Once a drug addict always a drug addict. His heart just gave out.

Eddie( and others) did becaome addicted to pain killers and di comsume a lot of alcohol early in his career. That took a great toll on his heart. He did conquer his demons and was clean and sober when he passed away. A bit of little known Eddie trivia. It was Dean Malenko, Chirs Benoit and Chris Jericho who got Eddie released from WWE before. They told management about his problem. VKM told Eddie if he wanted to work for him he had to go to rehab and he did. So I guess you could say those 3 guys saved Eddie
