I am slightly older than you (59) but I have high blood pressure, diabetes and I am overweight. Yes I have shortness of breath. You don't say if you are overweight on top of your other problems. If you are overweight, than you are going to have to start losing it. For yourself. Don't care what other people have to say. You have to want to live.
2 :
Hello, I'm so sorry you have to deal w/this @so young an age. You didn't provide enough info to give an opinion. Why were you in CHF? Which valve is causing the murmur, & how bad was the echo? The good indication here, is that your Doctor isn't worried. If he/she thought you were going into failure again. You wouldn't be put off for a week. If your shortness of breath worsens, your weight increases (fluid retention: check your ankles), &/or you feel chest discomfort. Call them back, & tell them. You can be short of breath for a lot of reasons. I hope you feel better soon.

I have not had CHF but my Mom and Dad are and yes they have have shortness of breath because it is one of the biggest symptoms concerning CHF
4 :
it could be the blood preasure medication that is a side effect of alot of them
5 :
Mine went away, but was caused by infections and injury to a heart valve. Try not to aggravate it if you can. Call the doctor and tell him about it, don't wait

I was born with congenital heart disease, and denid SSI, going through the process again, what else can i do

I was born with congenital heart disease, and denid SSI, going through the process again, what else can i do?
I am having another open heart operation in a month and I don't know how I am going to pay for the operation (the part where the insurance won't pay.) I have never worked (can't) and 19 years old. Please help me with what to do. I get insurance through my mother. I have a lawyer currently, but the process may take up to two years. Any other ways?

social security get lawyer and hety will help you get it for the money.
2 :
get SSD, thats what people here call it. Disability... if they deny you, file a claim, get a lawyer, and they must pay you if you win up to two years back pay, may be more or less where you live
3 :
If you are in college then you are still under the care and amenities of your parent or parents. I don't know where you live so it's hard to advise. If you are in the states then there should be a public insurance that will pick up the balance that your insurance won't. I have to think that your parents have the insurance on you or you wouldn't be saying that you can't pay for the part the insurance can't. You aren't real clear. I am wondering how you have any insurance to start with if you are not working

Old age and Heart disease, how are they related

Old age and Heart disease, how are they related?
i guess we all know that old age means more chance of developing heart disease. But is there a more specific reason what it is so? i need an answer fast for my bio project

As the body ages the vessels which carry blood throughout the body lose some of their elasticity therefore contributing to hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Also, what we put into our bodies chemically plays a big role in the arteies and other body organs not functioning well.
2 :
Heart Diseases are a culmination of a lifetime's abuse of the body's intakes. If as a child you eat too many foods containing cholesterol, you are more likely to suffer a heart disease. Old people have weaker immune systems and weaker metabolism. Old people's body defenses are getting weaker as they age. But if you are a fitness fanatic, and you care for your health as early as now, you will live a longer and more fruitful life. Good luck with that project! :)
3 :
the older you get the more you abuse your heart by diet, lack of exercise, and other factors such as smoking. The heart is a muscle and it ages like all muscles. The older you are the longer the heart disease has to advance...make sense?
4 :
You will hear so many reasons that in the end they are all unbelievable! There are many known reasons and many unknown reasons. I think I have heard them all. I had a heart attack I got all the usual questions:- Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you stick to a healthy diet? They go on forever, if you supply all the required 'Healthy living answers, then the only thing left is could it be hereditary? In my case it was not hereditary, I was the first in my family line to have a heart attack. But this now means that a doctor can explain to any of my children that should they ever have a heart attack that it must be hereditary.!! So to answer your question there is no real 'Specific' reason

Need advices to guide someone to improve health conditions to avoid heart disease without hurting feeling

Need advices to guide someone to improve health conditions to avoid heart disease without hurting feeling?
At least 5 people I knew had stent procedures and/or bypass surgeries last month. Correct someone to drop extreme high cholesterol foods and taking medicine to control blood pressure is a difficult task sometime to fight this disease that they often dont want to become any part of the criticized object. Very appreciate any successful experience and ideas.

Changing one's diet and exercise patterns are the best way to reduce heart attack risk, but these take a lot of commitment. You cannot do it for them, no matter how much you might want to. What you might be able to do is do it WITH them. For example, if the person needs to diet, which is common, try doing it at the same time. This usually means avoiding sweets -- no cookies, cakes, candy, or ice cream. Also, to bring down high blood pressure, a person usually needs to lower their dietary sodium, which means less salt. This is often the hardest thing to get used to. You can buy foods with artificial sweeteners that still taste sweet. But there is no real substitute for salt. It is best to "bite the bullet" and just do without. It's hard at first, but you do get used to it after awhile. Then your taste buds revive and you begin to notice all the subtle flavors that you never noticed before. You must be patient, though. Buy the American Heart Association cook book to help with guidelines on fats, sugar, salt, and cholesterol. Dieting with someone is always less burdensome than doing it alone, because you can encourage each other, tell each other, "You're doing great! Keep up the good work!" And reward each successful week on the diet by going to a movie -- or something else you enjoy that doesn't involve food

It doesn't blow up, but you have develop abnormal rhythm in the heart. It's called hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy or HOCM. It's an autosomal dominant genetic condition that causes thickening of the interventricular septum. Your doctor may hear a murmur if you have it, but if you have a family history of sudden death you definitely want to get checked out before playing sports. It's the most common cause of sudden death in young athletes.
