What is the life expectancy of someone with Congenital Heart Disease

What is the life expectancy of someone with Congenital Heart Disease?
She has had a pacemaker since birth. She is now 31. Her heart has just recently become weaker. The doctor put her on some medicine to try to strengthen her heart but if that doesnt work, then they want to put a defib. in. What can I expect her life expectancy to be?

Do you mean "congestive heart disease"? Only the cardiologist can say about the life expectancy based on the type of congenital heart defect, if any, her present condition of the heart and her previous medical records. If she is suffering from heart failure, the stage of congestive heart disease has to be assessed before arriving at a conclusion. (There are four stages for congestive heart disease.) An implantable cardiac defibrillator is placed in people who are at high risk of sudden cardiac death. Reasons you may be at high risk are: * You have had life-threatening bouts of ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF). * Your heart is weakened, too large, and does not pump blood very well. This may be from earlier heart attacks, heart failure, or cardiomyopathy (a diseased heart muscle). * Certain congenital (present at birth) heart problems or genetic health conditions

How safe is general anesthesia for heart disease patients

How safe is general anesthesia for heart disease patients?
My dads heart valve is leaking 30 percent. Is anesthesia safe for my dad? Please advise

There is risk any time we give anybody anesthesia. Your dad will need to be evaluated by a cardiologist, who will write a report that will help the anesthesiologist take care of him. He is at higher risk than a healthy 25 year old, of course, but will likely do fine. You don't say whether the surgery is to replace the valve, or is unrelated to his heart. Part of the risk depends on what is being done surgically. There are times when patients need to have the heart valve replaced before they can have the original surgery that they had planned. If you are concerned, have him seen by someone in the anesthesia department well ahead of his surgery. They can explain what will be done, and answer any questions you may have

Do rashes have a relation to heart disease

Do rashes have a relation to heart disease?
My grandfather died because his aorta burst but a few weeks beforehand, he had rashes by his ankles. Now my mom gets these rashes and they're getting worse. Should we be having her heart checked instead of her skin?
Heart Diseases - 3 Answers

1 :
She should see a doctor. The rashes you describe can be caused by edema, edema can be caused by poor heart muscle function. The can be caused by a lot of other things, like a new allergy to her detergent or fleas as just 2 examples. It is easy for a doctor to tell what the basic cause of a the rash is.
2 :
follow up with a doctor and explain the past family history.
3 :
Have her put her feet up. Edema does cause a rash below the knee that is red and itchy similar to hives. It will not cause an aortic rupture, but edema is a symptom of cardiac issues

Is there a such thing as a person having heart disease without a high blood pressure

Is there a such thing as a person having heart disease without a high blood pressure?
okay im a 21 year old female my blood pressure is in the prehypertention stages but not exceptionally high. Lately, I have been experiencing extreme fatigue, i smoke like 3 packs a day but that doidnt matter, um i sometimes feel like my heart is going to go out, like a possible cardiac arrest or someum. should i be worried or not? I wanna die but i don't wanna go like that.

Yes, you can have heart disease without hypertension. You could have a fatty heart, or a heart where the tissues are inflamed or dying making it difficult for the heart to pump blood. Smoking causes many of those conditions.
2 :
Seems absolutely plausible to me. But why would a 21 year old want to die? That's the most important question. Please contact a doctor immediately.
3 :
Yes. But smoking is your worse problem.
4 :
My Blood Pressure has never been any more than normal, and I have been suffering Heart disease for a minimum of 10 years now. Part of My treatment program involved actually lowering My blood pressure and slowing the heart down just a bit..
5 :
Three packs per day will kill you just like you are feeling. You are poisoning your heart and expecting it to work efficiently. Yes there are many heart diseases without a high blood pressure.
6 :
Stop smoking. If you can't, consult a physician (pulmonary medicine). Please also conduct your cholesterol profile test. There are several heart patients without hypertension. Such heart diseases are as follows:- HEART ATTACK HEART FAILURE ANGINA HARDENED ARTERIES DISTURBED HEART RHYTHM HEART MUSCLE DISEASE HEART VALVE DISEASE CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS Adopt DASH diet. Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.
7 :
Yes, there is such a thing. If you must worry, worry about your tobacco habit. You may not 'go like that', but lung cancer is no picnic either. Lasts a bit longer than a heart attack. Your fatigue sounds like the result of smoking, depression, anxiety. Talk to your doctor, the only one who can see you, ask questions and check your BP accurately.
8 :
Plsssss...you don't wanna die, really? You're right that you should be worried about it because it's about your health and your life. Remember that your soul is precious to live another day. First of all, you must take care yourself well if you still love your life. Nobody wanna die at young age. I think you should check your blood pressure often because it can tell you how your heartbeat is, safe or dangerous condition. The easiest way to check it yourself (if you are lazy to see your doc or have no time) is find a blood pressure monitor to have it measured at home. It's safe and easy to do it daily. It's very useful to check if it is at normal level or not. Try it and you will feel better! Hope this might help you

Where can i get good life insurance with heart disease 3 years ago

Where can i get good life insurance with heart disease 3 years ago?
I had open heart surgery in 2006 and I need some affordable life insurance.

Surgery three years ago would probably not be sufficient cause for a decline, but it will likely eliminate any possibility of preferred rates. As long as you are relatively young and healthy, and the surgery was successful in correcting your condition, you should have little problem getting underwritten by any carrier

How can a lack of good night's sleep increase the risk of heart disease and weight gain

How can a lack of good night's sleep increase the risk of heart disease and weight gain?
We all know that saturated fatty, high caloric foods lead to gaining weight and heart problems. But I just don't get how a lack of sleep leads to cardio(heart) risks. I recently heard the news that a lack of sleep can be bad for one's heart. What does it have to do with that? And how does it lead to gaining weight?

will this still a subject of debate, but some studies shows less sleeping than needed for the body, put the body on a stressful condition, with the increase of body stress hormones, (corticosteroid, adrenaline and nor-adrenaline, and others,) which somehow increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, also it affects the appetite regulating hormones ,leptin, and may increase appetie, so after all its hormonal issue...
