is it possible to have good blood pressure and still have heart disease

is it possible to have good blood pressure and still have heart disease?
I have pain in my left breast. But i'm not sure if it is in my chest that i am feeling the pain, or in my breast. I feel some pressure in my back on the left shoulder blade. my blood pressure is 114/79, and my pulse is 56. this low grade pressure/pain has been going on for two weeks now. anybody have any idea what could be wrong without telling me to go to the emergency room? I do have more fatigue as well.

I do not think it is a heart problem, might be chest infection, or inflammation, suggest you see a Doc.
2 :
The ER's probably not necessary if you've had it for two weeks now, but I'd definitely make an appointment with my GP sometime soon. It does sound like your heart because of the fatigue and pressure, but this might be useful information depending upon your other symptoms: chest pain that intensifies with breathing is a lung problem. If it remains the same regardless of how you're breathing I'm sorry to say it probably is your heart. Heart problems can also be responsible for an unnatural upswing of depression or anxiety. Either of those affecting you? Good luck.
3 :
It is possible, but probably not the first thing to suspect based on your symptoms. Do you have any shortness of breath? Heartburn? If this has been going on for 2 weeks with no change the ER is probably not necessary, but I would make an appointment with my primary doctor for as soon as possible.
4 :
If you have pain on your chest that radiates to the left shoulder I think you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. You may not know if you have had a silent heart attack, angina or whatever that may be. It can also be muscular but I am just concern if that pain is radiating to the left shoulder. We can't just assume what we have unless we have been seen by a medical professional and proper tests have been done. I also concern about your pulse rate. That seems low and I constitute that as bradycardia. I am just wondering if you are an athlete or u jog daily. Your blood pressure looks ok to me unless you have had a history of high blood pressure and if you feel dizzy with this blood pressure reading

How much money would it take in donations to find cures for AIDS, Cancer, and Heart Disease

How much money would it take in donations to find cures for AIDS, Cancer, and Heart Disease?
Warren Buffett is giving billions to charity. Haven't researchers been telling us for the longest time that if only they had enough funding, a cure was around the corner? When will we start seeing the fruits of their labors - and the fruits of our donations?

There're already 'cures'. The important thing is these things are, more often than not, the fruits of the fleshly lusts and perversions.
2 :
Personally, I think they already have cures for all of these, but they make more money off of treating it. I don't know if they'll ever release the cures in our lifetimes.
3 :
There are cures for all of those diseases. Whether we want to believe it or not. The only reason why these cures have not been given is because the pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars by giving cancer/aids patients concoctions of drugs. Some aids patients take up to 30 pills a day, just to live to see the next day. Could you imagine the amount they would lose, if they were to give one pill that would cure millions of people. They would go broke, and we all know that there plenty of greedy, powerful people in this world.
4 :
graciefaith1 and N8ball88, oh please. Of all the conspiracy theories I have heard, that one is the most pathetic. There is no cure, nor is there a secret vault hidden deep within pharmaceutical land that protects the cure for cancer and AIDS. I really don't think throwing money at the problem will fix it, especially when AIDS is a preventable disease. Prevention is the key. I wouldn't be opposed to donating to prevention programs that target AIDS, cancer, heart disease, etc.
5 :
Thanks, jef_h. I was shaking my head at those idiots as well. As for the question, you can't put a sum of money on unknown quanities like 'curing AIDS and cancer' because nobody knows what is required to accomplish those tasks. Safe to guess in the billions or trillions of dollars, though...... if they are possible at all. I disagree with jef_h that it's not a worthwhile investment, however. Even if the Big Payoff of a cure is not found, there will surely be progress made which will result in reducing human misery. Indeed, the biggest and cheapest payoff in AIDS would be for a worldwide organization to buy the patents for AZT, 3TC, ABC and all the other HIV/AIDS medications and put them to use controlling the 70 million AIDS cases in the Third World. Right now, with the majority of them uncontrolled, there is a humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented magnitude. HAART antiretroviral therapy is highly effective at controlling the misery of HIV infection.
6 :
Well, For one the governmenat developed the AIDS virus so we already that the cure for it but we'll never see it. No.Why Not, because the government is making a ton of money off it and always will.
7 :
It is true "if only there were enough money" to buy all the help and all the time in the world. A lot of people don't ever see the inside of a laboratory besides the little clips of petry dishes and test tubes and pipettes on the news. No one but people educated in the field (even a little) can understand the intellect that goes into reseach. The background. The MONEY. The patience. The trial. The error. The evolution of diseases RIGHT before your eyes! The problem with AIDS and Cancer is that the pathogen that causes AIDS is CONSTANTLY evolving in the human body. So the second you find a protein or a sequence of DNA that might be key... it changes. Cancer... there are so many types, causes and variations on cancer. Most people think that breast, lung testicular are all the same. WRONG! They couldn't be more different and individually complex to solve. This is why there is no cure. This is why all the money in the world can't buy quality time and people in the labs. Its only a matter of time.
8 :
I am a cynic at times and I think we don't really want to find cures. (by we I mean the government). They are already "complaining" baby boomers live too long and health care costs are way too high, draining the budget. The planet is overcrowded and personally I don't think very many people care. Which is a darn shame

Can thin people get heart disease or diabetes

Can thin people get heart disease or diabetes?
Im 15 and I am in good health. For the past year, I have focussed all my attention toward acedemics, which means I have no time to exercise. Now, my sophomore and junior are yet to come, and I will have to put more towards the acedemic area. Without exercise, I am worried if I would get heart problems or diabetes. What do you think? Till now, I am in perfect health. I am a bit underheight, and pretty thin (not anorexic of course). My stomach is a wee bit fatty (not fat nor so stomachless), but I am pretty thin. Any suggestions? I think I should add that I rarely eat food outside. Im vegeterian, and I intake much carbohydrates

1 :
Yes, thin people can get heart disease and diabetes, but I don't think it's something to worry about at your age. It's mostly just older thin people who've led sedentary lives and eaten poorly all their lives who end up having problems. You're doing ok. Concentrate on grades for now, but don't forget that activity and good diet are important too.
2 :
Thin people can get just as many illness and diseases as overweight ones. But most diseases come from partially being overweight, other attributes to getting a disease is in the family genes and the way you eat, i.e. fried foods every day.
3 :
you can get these diseases if you're thin b/c they can be hereditary. however, exercising and taking care of yourself will give you the energy that you need to do well in in school and will provide a necessary break. maybe get otgether with some friends to go for walks or join a gym.
4 :
While thinner people are at less of a risk of heart disease or diabetes, it does not disqualify them. If there is heart disease or diabetes in your family, you are at a much higher risk of it. Sometimes these conditions can be hereditary, sometimes they are brought on by outside factors. At your age you should be getting 30 minutes of active movement per day. I wouldn't worry about it at this point. If you are going for regular checkups with bloodwork, if anything is irregular, your doctor would let your parents know. I'm sure everything is fine or you would have heard.
5 :
diabetes n heart desease largely depend on lifestyle n not fully on a persons weight
6 :
You need to exercise. It will actually help you study, sleep better, and be more productive in your academic endeavors. It's too important for your overall wellbeing to cut it out. I understand the difficulty of balancing it all but it's better to workout than skip it. I work full-time and take graduate courses. I also have a family. But I take time to work out because it's that important. I also do some volunteer work. I still have some free time but not much. I don't watch tv, except for some news before I leave for work.
7 :
No I think that at you age you shouldn't have any risk, but exercise its not only for physical health purposes but mental too. What I mean is that helps you to deal with the strees that you have at school. My suggestion, have a couple of basketball, tennis, soccer game a week, or walk when you can even if is just a couple of miles a week, eat properly, swim, play bowling, walk you dog twice a day or just go up and down in your stairs at home or at school, you will feel much relax and without the worries that you have now. Good luck, hope that it helps.
8 :
yes am 16 and when i was 14 when i was in middle school i meet this girl who was very thin and had diabetes my aunt had a heart disease she died from it and she was thin

CAMPBELL SOUP COMPANY TEAMS UP WITH ACTRESS JANE KRAKOWSKI AND FASHION DESIGNER NICOLE MILLER TO HELP FIGHT HEART DISEASE Jane Krakowski Celebrates Heart Month by Wearing One-of-a-Kind Red Dress That America Selected to Help Raise Funds for American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® Camden, N.J., February 12, 2009– Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) took the fight against heart disease to the red carpet with fashion, food and entertainment playing leading roles. Television, film and Broadway star Jane Krakowski of NBC’s “30 Rock and celebrated runway designer Nicole Miller starred in Campbell’s “AdDress Your Heart program to help raise funds and awareness for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. Because heart disease is the number one killer of women, Campbell – the maker of an increasing variety of heart-healthy soups, beverages and sauces – is encouraging women to protect their hearts. People across the country voted online for their favorite of three exclusive dresses created by Miller. In celebration of American Heart Month, Krakowski showcased the designs at the Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards gala and encouraged women to take charge of their heart-health. “Knowing that more than 44 million women are affected by heart disease[1], makes me realize how important it is to take steps, such as eating right and exercising, to help protect your heart, said Krakowski. “I hope my involvement will raise awareness for the cause and help educate women of all ages about the importance of knowing their risk factors and living a healthful lifestyle. From now until March 2, 2009, people can continue to support the cause by clicking on the winning dress at CampbellsAddressYourHeart.com. For each click, Campbell will make a $1 donation to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement (up to $275,000). Nicole Miller: Designs From the Heart Miller is as dedicated to creating glamorous dresses as she is to the fight against heart disease. A long-time supporter of the cause, she says she’s excited to participate in a program that helps reinforce the fact that heart disease can affect anyone, at any time in their life. “In my work, I find inspiration from many things, including my passion for helping people live well, feel good and, of course, look great, said Miller. “Each of the designs I created for this program comes from my heart to inspire women, in a fun and fashionable way, to be and stay healthy. Campbell’s Heart-Felt Commitment Campbell Soup Company is committed to promoting heart health through the products it makes and the causes it supports. In addition to contributing $1.8 million to the American Heart Association, Campbell has offered a wide variety of great-tasting products that fit into a heart-healthy lifestyle for more than 25 years. To further support the cause this year, the company expanded its “AdDress Your Heart awareness efforts by joining forces with The Heart Truth campaign, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which aims to increase awareness of the risk of heart disease in women. Translating awareness into action, registered dietitian and author Elizabeth Somer says while some risk factors are hereditary, diet and lifestyle are two key things people can control to help protect their hearts. Campbell is one of the leading food companies that are helping to make it easy and enjoyable for people to find and eat nutritious foods. “One of the most important things you can do to protect your heart is eat right and exercise, yet many people think it is difficult to do, said Somer. “What they might be surprised to learn is that many of their favorite foods, like soup, vegetable juice and pasta sauces can all be part of a heart-healthy diet and they offer things like vegetables, fiber and antioxidants. In fact, Campbell offers a wide selection of great-tasting products that fit into a heart-healthy lifestyle including Campbell’s® Healthy Request® soups, which add a one-of-a-kind lower sodium natural sea salt and deliver great taste with up to 50% less sodium than their original counterparts, Low Sodium V8® 100% vegetable juice and Prego® Heart Smart Italian sauces. Do dogs get heart disease from eating people food

Do dogs get heart disease from eating people food?
I have a 50 pound lab/terrier mix and will feed her... -Egg yolks from my hard boiled eggs -Turkey skin -She gets to lick every plate after I eat -If food goes bad she gets to eat that too...like the other day she got several pieces of lasagna She is a normal weight, but im wondering if letting her be a canine garbage disposal will really impair her lifespan? She gets regular dogfood, people food isn't her whole diet.

There's a reason they made dog food unless its plain rice or plain non spiced food its bad..
2 :
dogs can get high cholesterol just like people. turkey skin? not really good for anyone. it's best to just stick to her dog food. you can give treats every once in a while is okay, but every day and the foods you're giving her, are not going to benefit her health.
3 :
Yes..that's not so good. If it is not good for you to eat then it's not good for your dog. Spoiled foods could have e-coli or a number of negitive bacteria growing in it. . A dog is always a lot more healthy on a very good "well balanced" dry dog food. DP
4 :
I think you should stick to a good quality dogfood or balanced for dogs food--not bad lasagna.
5 :
Don't feed the troll, it's only trying to get everyone riled up.
6 :
Oh please, it would be having a cardiac arrest if you fed it that.... Just don't give them what they want ...I would have a heat attack if I ate that , Dont Giv'em what they want
7 :
No. You probably mean to ask do they get clogged arteries that lead to heart attacks, like what happens in people who eat too much saturated fat. It takes years and years for that to happen to people, ever hear of a 15yr old having bypass? More like 65 yr old. However, people food can cause pancreatitis which comes on very fast, is very painful and can kill your dog without fast (expensive) treatment. They can also get food poisoning which can be very nasty for them, and they can pass on salmonella to humans even if they don't get sick from it. Obviously, your dog is used to people food, so telling you to quit feeding it to her is not likely going to happen. Meet me half way and keep the meats, fats, skin and gravy away from her. Give her just the veggies. Just remember, no onions, grapes, raisins or chocolate. And please, no raw eggs.
8 :
That's all really bad for your dog. I'd be worried about diabetes too if I were you
