You know, there is a time when Yahoo answers is the only place to go, like if you can't find it anywhere else... this is not an appropriate time.
2 :
Google each of those..you will get a much clearer understanding than if we tried to explain it to you..besides you learn far more and retain it better if you do your homework yourself..I will tell you it causes strokes and heart attacks..if it is not kept under control..
3 :
nw lemme start with fatty acids.....fatty acids are long chain carboxylic acids like palmitic acid( C17H35COOH). triglycerides or more appropriately k/a triacylglycerols are compounds of fatty acids and glycerol.as the name says triacyl means 3 fatty acids+1 glycerol. cholesterol as the name suggests is a waxy steroid metabolite...remember one thing it is present in the cell membranes......and it is a very important component.... now if the cholesterol levels are higher in the body then they form cholesterol plaques in the blood vessels which are solidified by calcium.these are known as atherosclerotic plaques.they narrow the lumen and if located in the coronary vessels can lead to ischemic heart disease. thats ol i can say in short otherwise its a huge topic to discusss

Is endiocardial cushion defect considered heart disease

Is endiocardial cushion defect considered heart disease?
I had surgery to correct what the doctors called endocardial cushion defect, would this be considered a form of heart disease, or just a defect?
Heart Diseases - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Endocardio Cushion defect is an abnormal opening ususally between the two ventricals or atria of the heart that allows blood to flow the wrong way through the heart . . It is a form of "congenital heart disease" (which is different than Adult heart disease which usually involves the coronary arteries and is associated with heart attacks) If the endocardial cushion defect is completely repaired with reduction in the pressures of the atrium or ventricules involved ,then there should not be any long term consequences -but it will still have to be closely monitored . Hope this answer is helpful

is there a cure for heart disease for dogs

is there a cure for heart disease for dogs?
on dogs 101 it said that the cavalier king charles spaniel, one of the most common problems is heart disease, and it's like the #1 cause of death. But if you took it to the vet, is there a cure or something that they could do to help it?

No cure. Like people there are things we can do to avoid heart disease - exercise, diet , http://ca.search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv1-&p=%20dogs%20and%20heart%20disease&ei=UTF-8&type=
2 :
each case is different, depending on what type of heart disease is affecting it - he could also have a combination of heart issues. "heart disease" is a very broad topic
3 :
No, there are no cures, but there are things that can be done to treat the symptoms and extend the quality and length of life.
4 :
No there isn't, but you can help prevent it through a healthy diet and exercise. If you are concerned about your dog, you can ask your vet to to test for it. All the vet can do when a dog is diagnosed with heart disease is help treat the symptoms, slow down the disease and help it live longer.
5 :
The best way to avoid Mitral Valve Disease in Cavaliers or any other breed is to buy your puppy from a reputable breeder who will show you current heart certificates for the parent dogs. These certificates are issued by a qualified canine cardiologist not the local vet. I have two Cavaliers, one is 6 1/2yr old and the other 5 1/2yo. Neither have heart murmurs. I give my Cavaliers a COQ10 supplement every day as a precaution. The supplement won't cure any existing heart problems but...maybe... it might help prevent or delay the development of heart disease. Some dogs can have a grade 1 murmur which is considered to be an innocent murmur and the dog should certainly be health checked by a vet every 12 months because it may become a more serious problem.

Do the majority of heart attack victims deserve to have heart disease

Do the majority of heart attack victims deserve to have heart disease?
Bearing in mind that heart disease is generally caused by smoking, bad diet, lack of excercise etc. and can, in most cases, be avoided. I give generously to a number of charities including The Heart foundation, Save the Children and Cancer Research and I need to drop one of them due to a lack of funds; I am becoming a charity. Is giving to the heart foundation a waste of time because people wont help themselves? It's not like breast cancer, this is unavoidable to some woman no matter how they live their lives.

Only if they want to die.
2 :
No, no one deserves to go through any of that.
3 :
No one deserves to have heart disease or ANY illness. How absurd! Many people die from heart attacks that never drank, smoked, did drugs, etc. Tons of people are born with heart problems such as flutters, murmurs, bad valves, etc. So, NO, no one deserves to have heart disease.
4 :
Ho Hum...it takes allsorts I guess. I take it youre slim, exercise at every opportunity, have never smoked or drunk alcohol and never ever done anything that might possibly affect your health;
5 :
Heart attacks are ordinarily the result of obstructed blood vessels feeding the heart muscle, they become obstructed because of inflammation, not fat, not smoking not anything else. They do not know at this point what causes the inflammatory process...this is why a good many sudden deaths from heart attach happen to otherwise healthy people. If you have to stop giving to a worthy cause because of financial concerns then do so, but don't try to rationalize it and blame it on others, that is childish.
6 :
Well it is a good thing for you to give money to the cancer society an for other societies It depends of those people that wants to take care of themselves, for other people they are taking advantage to be healed from the diseases.
7 :
That's a pretty cynical view of life. I don't choose to see it that way. Yes you are correct lots of diseases and illness are becoming more preventable but that greatly depends on ones socio-economic status and education.
8 :
hell no buddy you have 2 live hard 2 live well.... sure you take a few years off your life but hey at least you had fun while you where here... thats whats important. so the f with healthy eating and no smoking you only live once if it dosent conflict with the intresets of others do whats fun or live a long boreing life with bland food no booze and no smoke .
9 :
My grandfather died from a heart attack at 56. He didn't smoke or drink, was in great shape from many years in the navy and worked out on the farm all day so plenty of exercise. I really resent the fact that you would imply he deserved to die of a heart attack, he was a great man who loved people and took good care of his family. Some times it's just hereditary.
10 :
I agree that people suffer heart attacks because of their own fault. But some heart attacks are also caused by severe allergies. Heart foundations do research on this and other aspects of the conditions of the heart. I suggest to donate to the charity in which you truly believe in what they do and you know that your money is put to good use. Good Luck. :)
11 :
If this is your rationale, do you refuse to help lung cancer because someone MAY have gotten it from smoking? Ever hear of genetics?
12 :
if you had ever experienced a heart attack then you would be ashamed to have ask such a question. heart trouble not only affects the patient but also everyone who loves them.i only wish you had had to do the work my beloved wife had forced on her as a result of my heart attack she is a polio victim herself and partily permanently disabled. do you think she deserved to have polio herself as well?
13 :
Actually a good chunk of heart disease can't be avoided. There are gentic factors that lead to high colesterol and it doesn't matter what you do for diet and exercise. It's not like you are donating to weight watchers, where people really DO need to help themselves.
14 :
You have a valid point. In fact a similar system may be implemented on health insurance premiums. I certainly think people should be held accountable for being fat, without, necessarily saying that they d e s e r v e to have heart disease

What If I had a heart disease and go for root canal should I take 4 pills of antibiotic

If I had a heart disease and go for root canal should I take 4 pills of antibiotic

1 :
Root canal treatment is a colloquial term for a dental operation, endodontic therapy, wherein the pulp is cleaned out, the space disinfected and then filled. Every root canal filling tends to leak and bacteria do invade the neighbouring structures - including the heart, lymph nodes, lungs etc. If you have a heart disease, there are chances that the spread of infection to the heart can worsen the condition. So, it is preferable to take a prophylactic dose of antibiotics as advised by the doctor.
2 :
Consult the cardiologist before you go to the dentist. Since you are a heart patient, you must be taking blood thinner such as aspirin. This will cause gum bleeding. He will ask you to stop taking aspirin before 3 or 4 days ahead or prescribe some other medicines. Minnesota Dental Association wants dental patients with heart disease to know that most heart patients will no longer need to take antibiotics before receiving dental treatment. New guidelines have been adopted by both the AmericanHeart Association and the American Dental Association which should significantly reduce the number of patients needing to take a course of antibiotics before a dental appointment.

I read in Opera's magazine that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women

I read in Opera's magazine that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women.?
I read in the Opera's magazine that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women. Is it a symptom ? If so how can that be? Or do women just believe they have indigestion when indeed it is a pain being caused by their heart disease? If you take medicine and it takes away the indigestion, then would it then not be related to heart disease at all? Cheers.

I believe that it's not that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women but that when women are having a heart attack they sometimes mistake it for indigestion so they put off getting treatment which can have deadly outcome if they wait too long.
2 :
I don't think they know what they are talking about. indigestion is caused by acid reflux, a total different thing from heart problems so don't let them confuse. acid reflux can be cured too,. it's no big deal. read "natural cures they dont want you to know about" by kevin trudeau
3 :
Riley is right. People (both men and women) often think they have indigestion when, in fact, they are having a heart attack. The problem tends to be worse for women because the warning signs are often more vague or don't follow the more common symptoms usually experienced by men. See http://www.smart-heart-living.com/heart_disease_symptoms.html for good explanation of the symptoms of heart disease and heart attack.
4 :
It's not just women, men can have "indigestion" for their heart attack symptom. I think it's because the sensory nerves for the heart & the stomach area have a common origin. On a weird note, I admitted a 50's female one time who's only complaint was that she couldn't stop burping. It was a mojor heart attack. 45 minutes later, she was in the cath lab

the National Department of Health for a country wants to reduce the heart disease rate for the country

the National Department of Health for a country wants to reduce the heart disease rate for the country.?
He finds the best-fit (regression) line for predicting deaths from heart disease (in deaths per 100,000 population) from the amount of wine consumed (in liters per person per year). The line is given by: Heart disease death rate = 168.5 รข€“ 1.5 x wine consumption The doctor reckons that by increasing the wine consumption rate to 115 liters per year, the country will eliminate all deaths from heart disease. Give two reasons why this conclusion may not be valid.

One is that it isn't a zero-order function, but even more importantly, the guy who plans ahead and tries to get in his entire year's consumption in the first two days of January may not make it
