Does caffeinism add a significant risk of heart disease

Does caffeinism add a significant risk of heart disease?
I have a fast heart rate, and my maternal grandfather has had 2 heart attacks (although he survived them). Would an addiction to caffeine add significantly to my risk of heart disease?

Caffeine can cause rhythm disturbances and can exacerbate any preexisting heart conditions that cause rhythm disturbances themselves. Caffeine can increase the risk of a heart attack in older people or people with clogged arteries. Eliminating caffeine from your diet wouldnt hurt at all anyway. You can get energy from food without the cardiac stimulating effects of caffeine

Foods That prevent or lower the risk of Heart Disease

Foods That prevent or lower the risk of Heart Disease?
What are good types of food that are available at any grocery store not just 'organic' or 'whole food markets' that would help prevent heart disease, maybe keep plaque/platelets from forming or possibly help remove the plaque that is already in the arteries.

Hey there, Here are the basics: 1. Soy foods: According to the FDA, eating 6.25 grams of soy protein per day will lower bad cholesterol by up to 10%. For every 1% it lowers bad cholesterol, the risk of heart disease drops by 2%. Eat things like tofu, soy protein isolate (powder), soy milk, soy beans, meat alternative products and soy nuts. 2. Soluble fiber: Soluble fiber lowers total cholesterol. It basically carries the cholesterol buildup out of your blood vessels. You can find it in things like brown rice, oats and bran. 3. Fatty fish: Fatty fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel have Omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. They're good for lots of things but they are known for reducing the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. You can also take a fish oil supplement, too. One to three grams per day will do it. Read the article below about how to reduce the side effects of fish oil supplements. 4. Healthy fats: Eat fats that are liquid at room temperature. Those are the unsaturated fats. Olive and canola oil are easy to cook with and taste great. Healthy fats raise HDL (good cholesterol) which is more important than lowering total cholesterol. Those are the major categories (and examples) of foods to eat to lower your total cholesterol, raise good cholesterol and reduce heart disease risk.

High blood cholesterol level increases your risk of coronary artery disease. Reducing dietary cholesterol and fats helps to keep blood cholesterol levels within a healthy range. is there a difference between coronary heart disease, heart disease and coronary disease

is there a difference between coronary heart disease, heart disease and coronary disease ?
if coronary = heart why do we have terms like "coronary heart disease"?

Coronary disease refers to disease of the coronary arteries (which supply the heart with blood) while heart disease could refer to a wide variety of conditions, such as an enlarged heart or an arrythmia.
2 :
"Coronary" refers to the two arterial blood supply arteries of the heart. Therefore, any person who has been diagnosed as having coronary heart disease has a disease involving the arterial blood supply to the heart muscle. In this case the most common associated diagnosis is atherosclerosis...clogging of the arteries. A diagnosis of "heart disease" may include coronary heart disease, but it is not limited to that. Their are other diseases like cardiomyopathy, cardiomegaly, heart failure, heart valvular disease, heart rhythm diseases like persistent atrial fibrillation, sick sinus disease, ventral septal defect, etc.

What is coronary heart disease?

If you go to the link provided, you will find that there are more than 4. Mostly it is what we put into our bodies everyday that make the difference.
2 :
"Coronary" just means 'of the heart,' so usually, when people say 'coronary heart disease,' they mean coronary artery disease, or ischaemic heart disease. The heart is a muscle and it needs a blood supply to work. Coronary/ ischaemic heart disease results when the arteries, (blood vessels), supplying the heart with blood become clogged and narrowed with fatty plaques, (atheroma). This leads to not enough blood getting to the heart muscle and this can cause angina. If an artery gets blocked completely, usually due to a blood clot forming on the fatty plaque or the plaque breaking off, then no blood at all gets to part of the heart muscle and this causes a heart attack, or myocardial infarction. When this happens, part of the heart muscle dies, because it did not have any blood at all for a period of time. The main risk factors are smoking diabetes being male high blood pressure high cholesterol level advancing age family history of ischaemic heart disease I am not sure of the order of importance of these risk factors. Hope this helps. Ischaemic means not getting enough oxygen- blood is needed to carry the oxygen. Myocardial means of the heart muscle. Infarction means a complete cutting off of the blood/ oxygen supply.
3 :
There are many factors that can increase your risk of coronary heart disease. They are divided into 2 categories preventable and non-preventable. The non-preventable risk factors are being a male, heredity (having a family history of coronary heart disease) Diabetes, , Tobacco use. The preventable risk factors are uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, physical inactivity, and obesity.

major causes of heart disease: high/low blood pressure (hypertension/hypotension) high cholestrol high fatty build up heriditary extremely high stress levels since childhood plaque build upds Diabetic patients are closely linked to heart patients. So high sugar levels may be another cause. Rheumatic fever/heart disease is a form of cardiovascular disease. Rheumatic fever/heart disease iss an inflammatory disease which may develop two to three weeks after a Group A streptococcal infection (such as strep throat or scarlet fever). It is believed to be caused by antibody cross-reactivity and can involve the heart, joints, skin, and brain. THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME THING.
2 :
another big cause is alot of people are born with heart disease

Does smoking increase the risk of heart disease? Why is smoking rampant in France

Does smoking increase the risk of heart disease? Why is smoking rampant in France?
What part does smoking play in causing or increasing the risk of heart disease? Why do so many people in France smoke?
Heart Diseases - 3 Answers

1 :
Why is smoking even legal? Oh right, because the government makes a heap of money off of the taxes.
2 :
Smokers have an increased risk of forming blood clots, which in turn causes serious circulation problems. They also have artery clogs, which are not a total blockage but a gradual build up of fat deposits. Both clots and clogs can have a serious effect upon one's health. The heart has to work harder to overcome these negative effects, which means that it requires more oxygen. This is where carbon monoxide does a number on the oxygen in the blood. So it needs more oxygen, but it has less oxygen. A vicious circle that perpetuates into a nasty situation for the smoker. If you have more question, u can post them in: http://med50.blogspot.com/2010/04/patient-education-program.html

It's not even close. The body counts from heart disease are much, much higher.

People always get crazy over cancer, like it's supposed to be the worst thing on the planet. Cry me a river.
2 :
Because breast cancer affects mostly women and we all know how we like to give minorities their own month. The only group of people without a month are white males.
3 :
heart disease is easily preventable in most cases. We don't need to raise money for research on it, we already know what causes it.
4 :
The NFL is full of Boobs. Cheerleaders, T.O., Albert Haynesworth, etc...
5 :
why did you ask this in american football?
6 :
who cares theres no such thing as god so support is weak
7 :
Because boobs are awesome.
8 :
Heart disease has received a lot of attention and funding through the years. Breast Cancer wasn't even talked about in polite circles 30 years ago. Many factors in heart disease are controlled by the person: diet, exercise, smoking, drinking, etc. Breast cancer has no such factors. WIth relationship to the NFL, it probably has something to with the commissioner losing his mother to breast cancer
