How does salt lead to Hypertension & Heart Disease?
So apparently the CDC is encouraging food manufacturers to reduce the amount of salt in their products because high sodium intake is linked to high blood pressure and heart disease. But how, biologically, does salt raise blood pressure?

Salt consumption leads water retention. That excess water increases stress on the circulatory system.

it retains fluids in the tissues which in turn causes your heart to pump harder, resulting in high blood pressure. The recommended amout per day is 1 teaspoon, but American use up to two and more just from processed foods let alone what they add
