Atherosclerosis is a type of arteriosclerosis. The name comes from the Greek words athero (meaning gruel or paste) and sclerosis (hardness). It's the term for the process of fatty substances, cholesterol, cellular waste products, calcium and fibrin (a clotting material in the blood) building up in the inner lining of an artery. The buildup that results is called plaque. Plaque may partially or totally block the blood's flow through an artery.

Atherosclerotic plaque is comprised of VERY HARD fibrous scar tissue and smooth arterial mucle tissue mainly along with calcium deposits collagen white blood cells blood platelets and finally cholesterol and also various fats , the most out of the fats being POLYUNSATURATED. Do NOT be fooled by the MEDIA representation/AHA nonsense This is a misrepresentation of atherosclerosis as "wads of goo' It devlops BETWEEN the INNER and OUTTER layers of the arteries walls. ook into THINS Dr. Ravnskov and Anthony Colpo for the TRUTH
