How can heart disease cause bloody mouth

How can heart disease cause bloody mouth?
Hello! Today my friend told me that she had blood in her mouth yesterday and that it's somehow linked to her heart disease (coronary disease). I'm curious... how is that possible? How exactly a heart disease can cause such behavior? Can someone please answer?

Hmm.. I can't really see a direct link. It may be related to the heart medications she takes- like a blood thinner (Warfarin/Coumadin) or something like aspirin. These medications can affect the clotting time of your blood- often causing your gums to bleed.

There are two heart conditions that can give blood in the mouth (hemoptysis). They are congestive heart failure and Mitral stenosis
