Do rashes have a relation to heart disease

Do rashes have a relation to heart disease?
My grandfather died because his aorta burst but a few weeks beforehand, he had rashes by his ankles. Now my mom gets these rashes and they're getting worse. Should we be having her heart checked instead of her skin?

She should see a doctor. The rashes you describe can be caused by edema, edema can be caused by poor heart muscle function. The can be caused by a lot of other things, like a new allergy to her detergent or fleas as just 2 examples. It is easy for a doctor to tell what the basic cause of a the rash is.

follow up with a doctor and explain the past family history.

Have her put her feet up. Edema does cause a rash below the knee that is red and itchy similar to hives. It will not cause an aortic rupture, but edema is a symptom of cardiac issues
