I just heard on the news that a study has been done that watching TV for three hours or more a day causes heart disease and earlier death. So does that mean sleeping for 8 hours a night is worse?

Of course not. Sleep is a given. It's what you do doing your waking hours that counts, and if you spend 3 hours or more a day in front of the TV it's likely that you are generally inactive. It's not the TV that causes the heart disease, it's the inactivity.
