Smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, family history, and poor eating habits (fats, etc.) all contribute to heart disease. Cholesterol builds up in the blood stream and collects in the blood vessels in your heart. Once the vessels is "plugged" off with cholesterol, no more blood gets to that part of the heart and the muscle begins to die.....(hence the pain and discomfort that comes with a heart attack).
