high blood sugar damages all of your blood vessels. Your eyes and kidneys and fingertips and toes have particularly delicate, fragile vessels, so the damage will first manifest there. Your heart pumps blood, but it relies upon a network of vessels so that the heart muscle itself gets plenty of blood, and damaging those vessels has serious consequences for your heart. The damage occurs through osmotic disruption of proper function. The osmotic shift also increases your blood volume (your body retains water to try to dilute the sugar in your blood), which increases blood pressure and puts additional strain on the heart.

YES. Having high sugar content in your blood can damage and "furr up"/narrow your blood vessels. Small vessels like the ones that goes to supply blood to your heart and kidneys are especially prone. Your nerves will also suffer and your vision for example will go funny. So if you are a diabetic it is vital to have good control of your blood sugar to prevent all these damages from occurring inside your body. (I know it's easier said than done). Possibly seek help from a dietitian
